Internet Of Things

”If you think that the internet has changed your life, think again. The 'Internet of Things' is about to change it all over again!”

~ Brendan O’Brien

When we say IoT, what comes to your mind? Although the Internet of things has been with us for quite some time, it is first as of now, that it’s finally mature. The technology is now used to create effective, greener solutions and better services for many organizations and if this is news to you, be sure to continue reading.

So what is IoT? The Internet of things (IoT) consist of internet-connected sensors that collect and transfer data over a wireless network without human intervention.

The sensors in IoT can collect many different things, e.g. bar codes, temperature, Co2, humidity, light, pictures, video, sounds and track where things are. Sensors are build into many day to day appliances, e.g. Thermostats, cars, lights, refrigerators, and more appliances can all be connected to the IoT.

Sensors and infrastructure for sensors er now much more mature, standardized and cost-efficient and it is possible to work in an Open Source environment. This means that any company and organization can benefit from IoT – regardless of resources

What can IoT do for me?
1

Smart use of office & other spaces.

You can save money and resources by simply improve indoor climate. Especially buildings used for offices or education, that have a tendency to vacant half the time can benefit from IoT.

2

Supply chain & Production effectiveness

IoT can optimize your logistics and supply chain. This can be achieved in different ways, from optimization of storage space, warehouse climate, to sophisticated tracking of your products and tracking of the state of your assets.

3

Asset Management & Predictive Maintenance

When it comes to Asset Management and especially Predictive Maintenance IoT is your best friend. Companies can reduce costs, safety-, health-, environment-, and quality risks while at the same time improve uptime and extend the lifetime of assets.

4

Route Planning

If you are interested in preserving planet earth for future generation, you might have heard of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDG) by the United Nations. IoT can be key to facilitate the transformation to SDG for your company. Route planning, both in the private and public sector is amongst the strongest initiatives you can take.

  • Establishing sensors and network

To get started with IoT, you don’t need to dive deep into your pockets. Start with reusing existing sensors as much as possible and install new sensors where it makes sense. A lot of devices today already come with the technology you need, so be sure to make the best use of it.

  • Data Injection & Streaming

Take back control of your data management. Reduce the noise by collecting the right data, inject and model data according to your needs and thus avoid unnecessary work.

  • Visualizations

Raw data is fine for machines, humans need visualizations. This can be interactive apps, dashboards or just a management report. IoT can quickly visualize your data in a way, that helps you make the right decisions.

  • Automatic response & AI

Automation is a big part of IoT. Sensors catch sensible changes faster than humans and can react within split seconds. Common examples of this is the providing fresh air to an office or the regulation of heat or a/c. IoT is your friend, that automatically takes action according to your needs.
